Who knew that as a parent you must become an expert on poop?!?! Seriously, you examine it closely — check for consistency, content, wet/dry factor, etc.

We are in a poop situation at the moment. Jonah began having rice cereal added to his formula in an effort to help with his acid reflux. Dr. Hassel failed to mention the addition would prompt bouts of constipation or thickened poop! So, now Jonah gets to have a little Pedialyte each day too. Problem — it cannot replace a feeding, must be in addition to his feedings. How to make a baby with a full tummy drink more?!?! This morning was our first attempt. I waited about 1.5 hrs after his feeding. He drank about an ounce and fought most of the time.

The nurse said that his digestive system should adjust to the cereal in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, we have to continue with the Pedialyte efforts — 4 ounces a day! Oh — also have to keep examining the poop!
