Traditionally, we have put up Christmas lights during the Thanksgiving break. It’s something that we did in my family and my wife’s when we were growing up. Since we moved to Florida, we’ve been less enthusiastic about putting up Christmas lights than we were in Texas. My personal opinion is that it has something to do with the palm trees and the 80 degree weather.
As a result, we live vicariously through our neighbors: the hardworking and dedicated Tate family. In addition to working today on the exterior lighting, they put up not one but two trees inside their house: one in the family room and one in the formal living room.
Living vicariously isn’t free though. We enlisted and found ourselves assisting with “auxiliary” duties such as holding the ladder, watching Maxx (making sure he didn’t run into the street), and offering critiques of the workmanship (our favorite part of the activity)…
Helping to put up their lights this afternoon was a blast. Now if we could just get motivated to do our exterior.
